The remains of William BUZZARD, for many years a well known and highly respected citizen of Linton, were brought here Friday morning and taken to the home of Mrs. Dorothy COLLINS, where funeral services were held.

Mr. BUZZARD was accidentally killed at Steger, Ill., Tuesday afternoon at about 4:45 o’clock. He was hit by a fast train on the C. & E. I., when he was about to walk across the track in that town, where he had been making his home for the past two years with his daughter, Mrs. Florence BRUNDAGE.

Mr. BUZZARD had been to the post office and was returning when the accident occurred. Death was instantaneous and about the only wound visible was a contusion on the side of the head and face.

Deceased was eighty-eight years of age. He was born in Pennsylvania but came to Greene County, locating near Tulip early in the 80’s and shortly afterward moved to a farm just east of the Linton fairground.

Mrs. BUZZARD died in 1888 and two daughters and two sons have also preceded him in death. There are surviving two sons and two daughters, namely: W. Orin BUZZARD, of Shelburn, Mrs. Frank SPELBRING, of Steger, Ill., Grant BUZZARD and Mrs. Florence BRUNDAGE, also of Steger.

William BUZZARD was a man of fine traits of character, unassuming, genial and more than ordinarily free from worldly faults and foibles.

The funeral service was held at 2 o’clock this afternoon at the Baptist church, conducted by the Rev. H. H. ALLEN, of the M. E. Church, and burial in the old Linton Cemetery where rest the remains of his companion and four children
