Mrs. VanArsdall Dies at Home Following Paralytic Stroke
Mrs. Cordelia VanArsdall, 82 years old, died at her home, 816 S. Noble Street at 7 o'clock Monday night following a stroke of paralysis.
Mrs. VanArsdall had been a resident of Shelby County her entire life and for the past thirty-five years had made her home in Shelbyville.
She was the daughter of John R. and Mary Phares Rhoades and was born on Oct. 10, 1853.
Her father and mother were pioneer residents of Shelby County.
She was united in marriage to James A. VanArsdall, on Sept. 18. 1982. He preceded her Nov. 16, 1922.
She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. VanArsdall, eight of whom survive, five sons and three daughters, Mrs. Harry E. Harrell of Fairland, Mrs. Charles Ray, Brandywine Township, Mrs. Ed Armstrong, Washington Township, Everett, Jackson Township, LeRoy, Shelby Township, Paul W., Columbus, Earl, Shelbyville and Joseph VanArsdall at home.
The deceased is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the C.F. Fix & Son Mortuary, Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with the Rev. R.A. Ragsdale, pastor of the West Street M.E. Church, officiating.
Interment will be in the family lot in the Forest Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call anytime at the C.F. Fix & Son Mortuary.
The grandsons of the deceased will serve as pallbearers.
