Redmond - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Carl Lewis, age 87, passed away January 21, 2014 in Gunnison. He was born September 02, 1926 in Sigurd, Utah, a son of Loren Guymon and Inez Marie Knight Lewis. He married Ramona Johnson, Marcy 19, 1954 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Carl was always self-employed, supporting his family by buying and hauling coal; operating the Lewis and Chidester Lumber, where he over saw the logging operation. In the early 70's, he obtained his general contractor's license and was the owner of Carl Lewis Construction, until the age of 80.
During Carl's life, he made many friends in and out of the state of Utah. He was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need. He also served two terms as a Councilman for Redmond City. His greatest joy was working, hunting or bumming with his grandsons.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ramona of Redmond; daughter: Colleen and Tim Willden of Redmond; grandsons: Josh and Leslie Willden of Scipio; Jade and Brittney Willden of Richfield; great-grandchildren: Hadlee Jo, Zander, Jesse Lewis and Danika Paige Willden.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren: Jesse Carl Willden and Janey Ann Willden; his parents; four brothers and three sisters; and his in-laws: Owen A. and Reta Johnson.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Rich and Laura Means and family and Justin and Brandi Marsh and family, for their help, friendship and kindness show us during the past year. You'll never know how much it has meant to us. Thank you so much.
