TUPELO – Dorothy Beasley Tate, 87, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice. She was born in Tupelo on March 22, 1926, to Reuben and Marie Beasley. She was a 1944 graduate of Sherman High School. While there she was an All-State, All-Star basketball player. She lived the majority of her life in the Lee County area. She worked more than 40 years with Central Service Association. She loved her two dogs, Skippy and Suzy. She was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in East Tupelo with more than 60 years of perfect Sunday school attendance, a record previously held by her mother.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Bro. Doug Jones and Bro. George Rogers officiating. A graveside service will follow at Tupelo Memorial Park. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her children, Jerry King (Cheryl) of Tupelo and Carolyn Allen of Tupelo; three grandchildren, Jerry King Jr. (Kelly) of Guntown, Wesley Webb of Tupelo and Laura King of Tampa, Fla.; four great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Terry Beasley Sr. (Larue) of Tupelo, Bobby Beasley (Dottie) of Tupelo and Larry Beasley (Anne) of Tupelo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernell Tate; and one brother, Thomas Beasley.
Pallbearers will be Karl Beasley, Scott Beasley, Jerry King Jr., Wesley Webb, Terry Beasley Jr. and Jason Beasley.
Visitation will be noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
