Composer. The youngest of six brothers and the son of an opera lover, he was enrolled at the age of 12 at the Gioacchino Rossini Conservatory in his hometown, Pesaro, where he studied composition and flute. He graduated at 19 and entered the Pesaro orchestra as first flute. At the age of 22 he worked in Rome as a pianist in a ballroom and later joined RAI as an arranger of radio orchestras. Between 1955 and 1960 he lived mainly abroad working as a conductor in prestigious nichtclubs, such as "Ciro's" in Hollywood. Returning to Italy in 1961, he wrote with Nino Oliviero the soundtrack for the film by Gualtiero Jacopetti, Paolo Cavara and Franco Prosperi 'Mondo cane', whose lead song 'More' won a Grammy and was nominated for an Oscar as original song. In his long career he has worked with all the major Italian directors from Vittorio De Sica to Dino Risi, Pupi Avati and Damiano Damiani. Among the more than three hundred scores, even themes that have become cult, such as 'Il sorpasso'. Music by him was used for the films "Kill Bill vol. 1," "Kill Bill vol. 2," "Inglourious Basterds," "Drive," and "Django Unchained."
