Katherine was born to Andreas Labs and Euphrosine Schwarz Labs on February 16th, 1839 in Sellnowo, Graudenz, Marienwerder, Westpreußen, Prussian Germany which is now Zielnowo, Grudziadz, Kujawsko-Pomorske, Poland. She married Christian Dobrinski some time before 1859. They had five children together while still in Germany, then in July of 1870 they came to America. Once they were here, they moved to Milwaukee Wisconsin where they lived for a while before purchasing a large piece of property in Westfield, Marquette County, Wisconsin. Katherine and Christ had two more children together who were born in Marquette County. All together having seven known children, we believe she gave birth to others that perhaps died in infancy. Katherine's name has been written as "Kate" on a few documents, so we are assuming she may have gone by that name. From stories I have heard, I believe Christ and Kate may have had a hard life here in America compared to the life they had in Germany, and they ended up losing their property in Westfield after living there for 18 years. Then came the death of their youngest son August in 1898. All of this was too much for Kate, she had to be put into a mental hospital, where she suffered from a deep depression, and finally died on November 24th, 1904 in Wauwatosa Wisconsin. May she rest in peace.
