Interesting connection with the Thompsons and Abbotts. Melvin Abbott was born in Rock Rapids Iowa, son of Charles E. Abbott. Our Abbott line added the T in the last name sometime in either the late 1700s or early 1800s. My dads family history has always been so intriguing to me because the Abbott line was pretty easy to trace until about the late 1800s,my great grandfather Charles Abbott was married 5 times and details of his kids are pretty sketchy, I think there was more than one born out of wedlock.and I know there was one brother of my grandfather Melvin, that we have very few details of, his name was Adolf, Im not sure if he went by his mothers maiden name Arneson or Abbott, the family name. Then there were 2 sisters Annette Abbott Armpriest and Hannah Abbott Slyter, they both married and stayed in Oregon.
