Thelma was born on Nov. 5, 1915, in a one-room homestead log cabin, east of Bridger. She was the third of nine children born to Dorothea (Steinmiller) Thatcher and Joseph H. Thatcher.
She attended numerous one-room country schools, and graduated from Absarokee High in 1936. In 1939, Thelma graduated as a registered nurse from Deaconess Hospital.
She married Leslie I. Kirk. He passed away on their 30th anniversary, April 20, 1970.
Thelma was a Dedicated Registered Nurse in many clinics, doctors' offices and hospitals, and on air ambulance services on many flights in the U.S. She enjoyed needlework, was fond of collecting and studying rocks, and liked feeding birds. Thelma loved all animals, tame and wild, except skunks because they ate her chickens.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Les; brothers Joe Jr., Albert, Kenny and Dick; and her sister Ella (Thatcher) Eastlick.
Thelma is survived by daughters, nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, twp brothers, two sisters, plus numerous nieces and nephews. [Survivors names omitted.]

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, at Ocee Johnson Chapel, St. John's Lutheran Ministries, 3940 Rimrock Road, Billings. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 20, at Park City Cemetery.
