Fred Powell, 79, Crab Orchard Road, Somerset, died Friday, Jan. 8 at his home after an illness of five years.
Born July 18, 1895, in Pulaski County, he was the son of Thomas Harrison and --- Frances Reid Powell, ---- preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, the former Emma G. Sloan, whom he married June 11, 1953; two daughters, Mrs. Faustine Mayfield and Mrs. Marjorie Mayfield; a son, Bradford Powell; three step daughters, Emma Lou New, Mildred Saurer and Elaine Phelps; and a sister, Bessie Wilson.
He lived here most of his life. He was retired and a member of the Buena Vista Baptist Church and the Sievers's Masonic Lodge No. 491, Nancy.
