Mr. Balding was a native of Edwards
County, born in 1920 to Albert and
May Gawthorp Balding. He was married
in 1940 to Mildred Coleman, who survives.
Mr. Balding was a mechanic and auto body
man. He worked for Winterringers Garage in
Albion, Burgess Chevrolet and Hoffee
Brothers. He also operated the City
Service Station for many years and was
with the Edwards Count Highway
Department. He retired in 1983.
Survivors, in addition to his wife,
are a son, Michael of Chatham; a
daughter, Patricia Mann of Grayville;
a brother, Ray of Albion; five gran-
dchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services for George Balding were held
Friday at Nales Funeral Home in
Albion with Rev. Dan Spruell officiating.
Burial was in Graceland Cemetery.
