JAMES R. ALEXANDER, 52, of 17136 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown, died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at Washington County Hospital. Born Oct. 3, 1946, in Oakland, Md., he was the son of the late Benton W. and Nora A. Butler Alexander.

He worked for Kane Manufacturing and Turner Taxi, both of Hagerstown.

He is survived by his wife, Nellie J. Hensley Alexander; three daughters, Jamie R. Alexander and Tonya M. Alexander, both of Hagerstown and Jessica R. Alexander of Atlanta; a son, Johnnie Jordon of Hagerstown; two stepdaughters, Goldie Seaton of Hagerstown and Daisy Hensley at home; two sisters, Patricia Strawser and Opal A. Sirbaugh, both of Hagerstown; two brothers, Benton E. Alexander of Annapolis and Ferris A. Alexander of Hagerstown; nine grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Services were held at the Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, Hagerstown.
