Lafayette - A celebration of the life of Lyllian "Jean" Dumesnil Jones, 81, will be held Thursday, at 2 p.m., at the Church of the Assumption in Franklin, with Father Lloyd Benoit officiating.
A native of Franklin and a resident of Lafayette, Jean passed away Sunday, February 2, 2014 at her residence.
Survivors include her two sons, James P. Jones of Baton Rouge and Robert M. Jones of Lafayette; her granddaughter, Alexis Elizabeth Jones of Franklin; two sisters, Barbara D. Delahoussaye of Crowley and Myra D. Mouton of Scott; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander S. Jones Jr.; her son, Alexander S. Jones III; her parents, Hilton Telemarque Dumesnil and Beulah Poche' Dumesnil; brother, Hilton "Putch" Dumesnil; and sister, Sarah D. Blakesley.
Jean's family wishes to express their thanks to Betty Sonnier, her long time caregiver and friend, Cancer Center of Acadiana and St. Joseph Hospice.
