Elizabeth "Betty" Jane Abner passed away Jan. 24, in Lake Havasu City, at the age of 87. Born to Everett and Bertha (Bird) Baker, Betty is originally from Shawnee, Okla.
Truly dedicated to her country, Betty was a Rosie Riveter in WWII, a sergeant in the Red Cross and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. This patriot was an excellent shot, an extremely skilled horseback rider, and one of the first female airplane inspectors in the United States, working at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah. Betty really loved her friends and was an avid bingo player.
Betty leaves behind her four children; sons, Terry Ralston, of Golden Valley and James Ralston, of Bullhead City; daughters, Cyndy George, of San Marcos, Calif. and Debra Long, of Lake Havasu City; her friend and caretaker, Greg Morello; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service took place at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens, Jan. 30, at 11 a.m. with words of comfort given by the family.
