Son of Joseph Cephus Fisher and Sarah Margaret "Mag" Swinson. At age 31 he married Lonie Ada Lewis Fisher.


According to family lore, her parents did not approver of her seeing him and after two attempts to elope, she made it out the window on January 17, 1910. They ran away together and were married by a Justice of the Peace, J.H. Marshburn (a cousin). They had 12 children: Eldridge French Fisher born Oct. 28, 1910 married Ida Pearl Williams on June 24, 1926; Bessie Arlene born April 15, 1912 and married Vura K. Foy Dec. 15, 1934; Ray Jay Fisher born Aug. 31, 1914 and married Lois mae Smith Feb. 1, 1947; Blanche Gaynell Fisher born Nov. 15, 1915 and married Mabry Mose Rhodes April 8, 1936; Clifton Vernon Fisher born June 18, 1917 andmarried Lottie Thomas Pittman Aug. 31, 1938; Cecile Mae Fisher born April 16, 1919 and married John D. Hall July 11, 1938; Rught Josephine Fisher born Aug. 17, 1921 and married John Richard Rhodes Feb. 26, 1941; (John Richard Rhodes and Mabry Mose Rhodes are brothers). In 1926 the family purchased 210 acres from Lonie's brother Vannie in Stump Sound Township of Onslow County and made their home there until 1941 when the military reservation was created by the government. He passed away at home while resting in his chair after dinner of a stroke.
