Leonard Fisher, of Verona passed away Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of Onslow County and the Verona area, having been one of the families to move from the area which is now Camp Lejeune . He was employed for many years at Sears. He owned and operated a Laundromat in the New River Shopping Center and also owned and operated Onslow Wholesale Plumbing & Electric Supply until his retirement in 1984. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and an occasional trip to Las Vegas. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Essie Lee Rochelle Fisher and infant son, Douglas. His parents, Leonard & Lonie Lewis Fisher, four brothers, Eldridge, Ray, Clifton and Hugh; two sisters, Bessie Foy and Cecile Hall. Survivors include his loving and dedicated wife, Arlene Fisher of the home; four sons, Tony and wife, Jan of Wilmington, Danny and wife, Edna of Elizabeth City, Roger and wife, Ashley of Greensboro, Mitchell and wife, Marty of Durham; nine grandchildren, Mike, Kevin, Brittany, Mandy, Maddie, Matt, Lillie, Sam and Ben; five great-grandchildren, Brianna, Ethan, Riley, Gray and Kadin; five sisters, Blanche Rhodes, Ruth Rhodes, Myrtle Marshburn, Vernell Campbell and Marie Mullen and her husband, Charles; three sisters-in-law, Pearl, Lottie and Lois Fisher.
