Obituary: Harold D. Yager, 89, of Rome, formerly of Camden, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2009, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Utica, with his loving family at his side. He was born on July 26, 1920, in Oneida, the son of Luther Elliot and Mabel Gerwig Yager. He was a graduate of Verona High School. On January 4, 1964, he was united in marriage to Carol Riley in North Bay, NY.
Harold was a owner and operator of Yager Farms and was a machine operator at Camden Wire for over twenty years, retiring in 1982. Upon retirement, he was a greeter at Wal-Mart in Rome and worked at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc.
Surviving besides his loving wife of forty-four years, Carol; are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Carol Pittas, of Cairo, Donna and Dick Halukiewicz, of Blossvale, and Sharon and Roger Babcock, of Cairo; three sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Judy Yager, of Leeds, NY, Tom and Lori Yager, of West Monroe, and Todd and Melissa Yager, of Camden; one brother and a sister-in-law, Warren and Mary Lou Yager, of Durhamville; a sister-in-law, Iola Yager, of Durhamville; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Harold was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Anderson; two sons, Richard Yager and Brian Yager; and a brother, Earl LeRoy Yager.
Services: Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11am at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 9464 St. Rt. 13, Camden. Interment will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
