David Davis
The Son of: Joseph A. Davis Sr.1810 – 1880, and Edith Elizabeth Bumgarner 1814 – 1855. The Family was from the East Bethlehem Twp., Washington County, PA.

David's Mother: Edith Bumgarner, was the granddaughter of Jesse Bumgarner who founded Millsborough, PA. Edith was also the granddaughter of Kathryn Elizabeth and Frederick Wise who founded Fredericktown, Penna, eight miles south of Brownsville, PA. Fredericktown was built on land owned by Fredrick Wise.
David's Father: Joseph A. Davis Sr. was a cooper-he made barrels, and probably other items used the home like milk buckets, firewood buckets, ect. He might have worked in the employ of others who had mills and distilleries, but eventually worked on his own as a carpenter/Joiner. Perhaps even had a hand in building the new Davis Covered Bridge after he moved to W. Beth Twp. It was rebuilt after the old one got swept away in a flood of Ten Mile Creek.

David married Sara Mariah McCullough the daughter of William McCullough and Sara Thorn who settled in Washington County, Pa.David's name has been seen on the census with the middle initial r. and also D. In 1840 census he is with family in Jefferson Twp., Greene Co., Pa. 1850 census he is with family in E. Beth. Twp., listed as D. R., cooper. 1859/60 he was married to Mariah McCullough.

1900 David is not found in the censuses and neither him or brother Zachariah in Howe Cem. signed up for the 1890 Vet Schedule so they both died between 1880 - 1890. David and Mariah were living in Jefferson, Fayette County, PA at the time of his Death. Mariah is found with son Joseph Davis's Family in the 1900 Census widowed, living in Brownsville Boro, Fayette County, Pa.

David like his Father Joseph was a cooper and later a carpenter.
David's brothers John Zachariah Taylor Davis(CW Stone in Howe), Greenbury D. Davis, Samuel E.F.Davis, like David were all CW Veterans. Samuel recieved severe wounds from the CW.

David and Mariah's known children: Charles Lee, Margaret, William McC., Flora, Joseph Allen, Joel "Dewey", Susan Davis.
