Everett Frank Shields was born in Jackson County, Kans., Jan. 26, 1915. After finishing Holton High School he married Lydia Jacobs, daughter of Albert Jacobs of Jackson County, on June 4, 1939. In 1942 he joined the U. S. Navy, serving in World War II from 1942-46. Thereafter he took a course at the Kansas City Watch-maker School. After working in a jewelry store in Holton six months, he bought the Armel Jewelry Store there, one of the long-established businesses of Jackson County, which he now operates as the E. F. Shields Jewelry Store.
