Michael Walbeck Wagner, aged 70 years, a well known resident of Heshbon, died in the Indiana hospital early Thursday morning, with a complication of diseases. He was born in West Wheatfield township, May 5, 1850, and spent the greater part of his lifetime as a farmer on the old Wagner homestead property, which he owned at the time of his death. He was an expert millwrght. Early in life he united with the Germany Lutheran church and was a devout follower of that faith. He was united in marriage to Miss Susan Mauk, of Brushvalley township, on June 18, 1872, and spent nearly half a century of happy wedded life with her. The death of his wife last February marked the beginning of his decline in health, which continued gradually until the end. Fourteen children, nine of whom are living, were born to the couple. The surviving childrebn are: O.J. Wagner, of West Wheatfield township; ex-County Commissioner W. B. Wagner of Indiana; J. M. Wagner, of Buffington township; M.K. Wagner, of West Wheatfield township; Ray A. Wagner, of Heshbon; Mrs. Dessie Mauk, of Strongstown; Mrs. Annie Shaffer, of West Wheatfield township; Mrs. Pearl McCully and Mrs. Emma Reynolds, of Derry. Funeral services were held at his late home in Heshbon on Saturday afternoon by Rev. J. A. Beaton, of town, and the remains were laid to rest in Germany Lutheran burying ground.
