Marcy Hayward Blair, born 25 September 1710 died 5 October 1769 in her 58th year. John at age 61 married on 19 Nov 1771 in Palmer to his second wife, Katherine Shaw, who may have been a widow, maiden name unknown. All the children are of the first marriage.
John Blair and his brother-in-law, Ephraim Hayward (Marcy's brother) were among a company of forty-eight Brookfield men raised by Capt. Thomas Buckminster who went up to Fort Dummer in August 1748 to secure the garrison during the first French and Indian War. This was a military company, drawn from all the communities in the area, and John was likely called upon for other service during the French and Indian depredations.
