George Rogers died Thursday morning at the poor farm. He had been living in a cabin on the old Amanus Hall farm, south of town, but Tuesday morning he came to the home of Charley Huffer, in Mulberry, sick. On Wednesday afternoon he was taken to the infirmary. He was brought to the Kleinsmith mortuary to be prepared for burial. Death was caused by complications - heart and stomach trouble, and 'tis said there was evidence of a paralytic stroke. No one knows the exact age of the deceased man, but it is supposed he was near 80.

Many years ago John Rogers and his wife, the parents of George, died in a cabin a mile west of town, about the same time. They left a family of seven children, all young, to shift for themselves, and they certainly did shift all through life. John, one of the sons, married a Mrs. McFarland, and they had a family of two sons. For several years the family lived in a hut on what is now the Bailey farm, but at that time it belonged to Charley Fretz. As we remember, the boys were born there.

John was shot and killed when a posse caught him in the railroad yards with provisions alleged to have been stolen. William and Harvey lived for years on the John E. Combs farm, and were making their home there when they di(e)d a few years ago. Hugh sat down on the railroad track east of town, went to sleep and was killed by a train. Sarah lived many years in the J. E. Combs home and died there several years ago. Charley, the youngest member of the family, is the sole survivor. He lives in the vicinity of Battle Ground.

The deceased man was born in Trenton, New Jersey, but the family came to the state when he was a small child.

The funeral service will be conducted in the funeral chapel Saturday at 10:30 a. m., by Rev. I. Whitman, and the burial will follow at Fair Haven.
