Marvin arrived in Vietnam 6 January 1969 and was assigned to the Service Battalion (Prov) 9th MAB. During Operation Bold Mariner Capt
Cook and his crew were in a LVTE-1 3-H-25 helping to clear a mine field when there was a premature detonation of a line charge that completed demolished the LVTE and all seven crew members were killed by the explosion.
Capt Cook served his country for 20 years.
Survived by his wife, Irene Cook of 4503 Lynn Lane and his mother, Lucille M Hobby of 4607 Lynn Lane, N Little Rock, AR.
His father, Marvin Cook Sr was deceased.
