On Thursday last, the sad news that George H. Simon had passed away at Detroit, Michigan in the Marine hospital, was received by his wife. The cause of death was typhoid fever and the deceased had been ill for several weeks. George was taken ill while firing on one of the large lake carriers and was taken to the Marine hospital in Detroit. Although it was known that he was ill, the news of his death came as a shock to his relatives and friends.

The deceased was 35 years of age, having been born in Egg Harbor in 1883.

He was married June 9, 1908 and is survived by his wife and four children, the oldest nine and the baby is but a year of age. One of the children is afflicted with infantile paralysis and the family has been having more than its share of hard luck during the past few years.

The body arrived here from Detroit on Monday mornings train and the funeral was held immediately, Rev. Alph Broens being in charge of the services. A large number of Catholic Order of Foresters attended, the deceased having been a staunch member of that Order.
