LEONORE "LONNY" MOSS

OLEAN -- Leonore "Lonny" Moss, of 477 Vermont Street, Olean died Tuesday evening, December 3, 2002 at the Olean General Hospital following a brief illness.

Born in Berlin, Germany on February 9, 1915, Mrs. Moss was a daughter of Abraham and Frieda Weitz Chill. She attended the Reiman Art School in Berlin, and Berlin Business Academy. On April 14, 1935 in Berlin Germany, Mrs. Moss married Dr. Leo D. Moss, who survives.

Prior to moving to Olean in 1942, Mrs. Moss worked as the credit manager for Lightolier Company in Jersey City, N.J. to help support Dr. Moss's post graduate medical education.

After moving to Olean, Mrs. Moss was actively involved in many community groups. She was a member of the B'nai Israel Congregation, having served a term as president of its sisterhood. She was very active in the initial phases of the civil rights movement and organized and participated in many groups pertaining to this cause. She was also involved with Interfaith Caregivers, Friends of the Olean Public Library, and the Headstart program.

In addition to her husband, Dr Moss, she is survived by a daughter, Judith Moss Feingold (Roger) of Boston Massachusetts, Jeffrey D. Moss (Barbara) of San Antonio, Texas, three grandchildren, Lindsay Moss Feingold, Lesley Anne Feingold both of New York City, and Philip Jonathan Moss of San Antonio Texas.

She was predeceased by a daughter Deborah Lynn Moss Barron in 1999. She is also predeceased by a sister Ruth Chill Loewi, and a brother, Arieh Eshel.

Burial will follow at B'Nai Israel Cemetery.
