Sylacauga, AL - Funeral service for Joseph W. Jones, Jr., 86, will be Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 3:30 p.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel with Rev. Tim Teague officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Childersburg, AL.
Mr. Jones died Thursday, February 2014 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph W. Jones Sr. and Gladys Lorene East Jones; brothers, Ferrell, Melvin and Clarence Jones; sisters, Willie Ruth Jones and Betty Lou Burton. Mr. Jones was a member of The First Church of God where he served as a Treasurer and deacon; West Coosa Senior Center Board of directors. He loved carpentry, fishing and camping. He retired as a millwright from Kimberly Clark after some 23 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Frances Jones of Stewartville; sons, Randall B Jones, wife Candace of Equality, AL and Allen D Jones, wife Kaye of Sylacauga; daughters, Reba Jones Looney, husband Doug of Sylacauga and Brenda Jones Williams of Sylacauga; brother, Donald Wayne Jones of Sylacauga; sisters, Gladys Peters of Sylacauga, Patty Nell Shaw of Sylacauga, Marie Duncan of Sylacauga and Ramona Cost of Sylacauga; seven grandchildren, Scott Looney, wife Wyndy, Kellie Poore, husband Jeff, Bronson Coleman, Craig Coleman, wife Ashley, Joey Jones, wife Stephanie, SSgt. Grant Jones, USMC, wife Sarah and Lindsey Bolt and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 22, 2014 from 2:00 pm until 3:30 pm. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
