Final tribute will be paid to Lieutenant Jesse Mechem at 10:00 Friday morning at Graham's chapel. The body is to arrive in Las Cruces Thursday morning.

Lieutenant Colonel Jesse Mechem was killed October 29, 1944 in Leyte, 9 days after the American troop under General MacArthur invaded Leyte to reconquer the Philippines.

Reverend A.C. Douglas pastor at St. Paul's Methodist Church will conduct services and internment will be in the Masonic Cemetery here.

Lt Colonel Mechem is survived by his widow Ruth Cole Mechem, daughter Ruth Elizabeth, his father and mother Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Mechem of Las Cruces and two brothers Davenport Mechem of Ontario, California and Edwin Mechem of Las Cruces.

Colonel Mechem entered into the US ARMY in 1936 three years after he graduated from New Mexico A&M College with high honors in economics.

He was with the 383rd infantry, the 96th Division at the time of his death
