Darwin F Wolcott, 89, of Hillcrest Dr, Corry, Pa, died on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at the Colonial Terrace Personal Care Home. He was born in Avalon, Pa, on January 23, 1925, a son of the late Floyd and Grace Millspaw Wolcott. Dar was raised and educated in Avalon until he was 12 years old when the family moved to Edinboro, Pa. When he was 17, they moved to Corry and he graduated from Corry High School in 1943. He joined the Corry Country Club at age 17 and was their longest continuing member there. Dar was drafted into the service at age 18 and served with the US Air Force for one year, and then served in the US Army Infantry from June 1943 until March 1946. While with the infantry, he served in England and Germany, and was involved in the Battle of the Bulge and the battle at Remagen Bridge. He was the recipient of a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Corry in 1946 and married. Dar then attended Penn State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering. Following graduation in 1951, he went to work at Rogers Structural Steel in Corry. He became President and part owner of the company from 1980 until 1988, and then worked as an independent drafting consultant until his retirement in 2005. Dar was chairman of the Corry Redevelopment Authority in 1960, a past president and member of the Corry School Board, member and four time president of the Corry Country Club between 1952 and 1990 and a member of the VFW Post #264 in Corry. He was also runner up to the Club Champ at the Corry Country Club in 1964 and was the City Golf Champ in 1982. Golf was his passion but he also enjoyed water color painting and was a member of the Corry Artists Guild. In addition to his parents, Dar was preceded in death by two sisters, Laurelle Young and Virginia Gerzina, a brother, Edward Wolcott and a grandson, Brett Alan Fargo. Dar is survived by his wife, Naomi L Gronostaj Shephard Wolcott, whom he married on April 30, 1991 in Union City, Pa; two daughters, Linda VanderSchaff and her husband Curt and Julie Fargo and her husband Larry, all of Corry, Pa; two step daughters, Kimberly Rowland and her husband Scott of Corry, Pa, and Wendy Shephard of Jamestown, NY.; his first wife of many years, Marge Wolcott of Corry, Pa; and two brothers, Paul Wolcott of Corry, Pa, and James Wolcott and his wife JoAnn of Louisville, Ky. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Nicole Sandstrom, Darwin Jaquith, Josh Fargo, Rachael Patterson, Alyssa Rowland and Olivia Pappalardo; four great-grandchildren, Adrienne and Lyndsay Hands, Logan Muir and Juliet Fargo; one great great-grandson, Connar Simmons and several nieces and nephews.

Golf was his passion but he also enjoyed water color painting and was a member of the Corry Artists Guild.
