Mr. Archibald Lawrence, an old citizen of Madison, died at his residence on Walnut street yesterday afternoon, and his body was temporarily deposited in the vault at Springdale cemetery this afternoon. He had but recently been elected Marshal of the city, and died before being sworn into that office. He was a prominent Democrat, and that party at one time elected him to the Legislature. He used to be in years gone by City Marshal, and made a good officer. His wife died a few weeks ago.
