Lenna Mae Abbott, daughter of John W. and Malinda Abbott, was born December 25, 1874 in McClean county, Ill., and slipped away to be with her Lord from St. Joseph hospital in Concordia, Kan., on November 17, 1960, at the age of 85 years, 10 months and 23 days.

Mrs. Simms came to Kansas with her parents at the age of 17. She lived in Kansas all of her life except for two years spent in Texas. She was united in marriage to Edward A. Simms in 1897 and their spacious home near Republic, Kan., became a haven of rest in the community for those who needed their help. Mrs. Simms was converted in early childhood and belonged to the Baptist church until moving to Belleville where she united with the Wesleyan Methodist church of which she was a faithful member to the time of her death.

Mrs. Simms was preceded in death by her parents, her ten brothers and sisters, and her husband, who passed away on June 22 1944. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mae Harrington of Austin, Tex., one grandchild, five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many friends and other relatives.
