DEATH OF ANDREW FLOM
Last Spring Mr. Andrew Flom, suffering from a complication of diseases, sought relief in a trip to Colorado Springs, Col., accompanied by his wife. Mr. And Mrs. Flom started for home Wednesday, utterly discouraged, Mr. Flom having derived no benefit whatever from the trip. While on the cars near Newton, Kans., he gave up the struggle and passed over the river. The remains arrived in this city last evening, causing much surprise to many of our citizens, the death not being generally known. Mr. Flom was born in Norway in 1834 and came to this county in 1844, settling with his parents in Cottage Grove, this county. In 1865 he came to Madison and immediately identified himself with the business interests of the city. Among the buildings erected by him are the large brick block on the corner of East Main and South Webster streets, opposite Soelch’s market, the hotel known as Flom’s Hotel, corner of East Main and South Hancock streets, and several dwelling houses in different parts of the city. The funeral will occur from the residence, 203 East Main Street, tomorrow at 2 P.M.
