Eli Keith was the son of Nichodemus Keith and Margaret Borden. He was born about 1788 and died after 1856, most likely in Hunt County, Texas but burial location is still not confirmed. The 1850 census listed Eli at age 62 living in Titus County, Texas. He married around 1811 to Elizabeth Meek. They were living in Bledsoe County, Tennessee in the early eighteen hundreds. Eli served in the War of 1812 from Bledsoe County, Tenn. He served in Capt. Jesse G. Rainey's Company of East Tennessee Mounted Gunmen. Eli and Elizabeth had several children:
