On Friday, 28 February 2014, Aileen (Bognuda) Bernard, 87, passed away in Atascadero, Calif.
She was born in March of 1926 in Santa Maria, CA, and was the daughter of Louie Bognuda and Merilda (Donati) Bognuda.
Aileen graduated from Santa Maria High School in 1944.
In 1946, she married Michael L. Kolibas of Ohio and they had three sons, Michael L. Kolibas Jr., Bruce Kolibas and Darrell D. Kolibas.
Widowed at a young age in 1969, Aileen went to work as a cook at Valley Community Hospital in Santa Maria, CA. Aileen re-married in 1971 to Joseph Bernard and they lived briefly in Atwater, Calif.
In 1972, Aileen and Joe moved to Los Osos, CA, where she resided until 2011, when her illness required her to move into assisted living in Atascadero, CA.
Mrs. Bernard is survived by her sister, May (Bognuda) Costa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louie Bognuda and Merilda (Donati) Bognuda, first husband, Michael L. Kolibas, Sr., second husband, Joseph Bernard, sons, Michael L. Kolibas Jr., Bruce Kolibas and Darrell D. Kolibas.
