He was born in Minnesota but moved to Massachusetts in the 1920's, where he met his wife, Gertrude Norwood, of Gloucester, Mass. He was a carpenter and served in the US Coast Guard on patrol boat #279 based at Portsmouth, New Hampshire from 26 Jun 1927 to 27 Jun 1930, rising to chief petty officer. The family returned to Gloucester in 1930, but moved to Oregon in 1933-34, settling in Astoria, where they lived at 2328 Cedar St. In the late 1940's they moved to 4050 Beck Ave. S.E., in Salem, Oregon. He and Gertrude had three sons and two daughters. Albert passed away in 1974.
