George was the only child of Edwin Archer and Elizabeth Rivitt.
He was baptized on the 28th September 1857 in Burbage, Leicestershire.
An article in the local newspaper reported that between the 26th August and the 5th December 1857, twenty nine people, including Edwin and his family, in the village of Burbage, had died from a malignant fever, thought to be the result of poor sanitation.
Elizabeth died first then Edwin two days later, and baby George several weeks after.
George died aged 2 months.
