Aisic Hirsch, age 83, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday night, March 7, 2014. Aisic touched the hearts and minds of thousands of children and adults in several states as he educated them to the horrors of the Holocaust. His childhood story of escape was a testament to his ingenuity and good luck, as if he was meant to survive to share his story with the world. He worked tirelessly to impress onto everyone the need for vigilance in order that future generations would never experience another Holocaust. Since 1989, Aisic proudly served as the Clinical Coordinator of Periodontal and Implant Associates, Inc. of Cullman, Alabama. For twenty-five years, he was an outstanding member of the Elks and earned the title of Exalted Ruler seven times and was an Alabama State Officer. Aisic enjoyed the many opportunities he had to travel with his family, to attend educational programs, and to be actively involved with Temple Beth-El. Aisic was a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend, who will always be remembered for his wonderful blue eyes and his beautiful, infectious smile. Predeceased by his son, Harold Z. Hirsch, Aisic is survived by the loves of his life; his wife, Riva Hirsch; daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and Jay Perlstein; daughter-in-law, Felice Hirsch; grandchildren, Jennifer and Todd Doobrow, Rachel and Will Schneider, Kayla Perlstein, and Brendan Perlstein; and great grandsons, Hampton Doobrow and Max Schneider. Funeral services will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, Block 40, at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 9, 2014.
