Nell Miller, 80, of Portales, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005, at her residence in Portales.

She was born Sept. 8, 1925, in Silverton, Texas, to Edna and Bill Miller.

She grew up in Silverton where she attended school. She then moved to Pitchfork where she worked as a bus driver. She lived in various places working with pipeliners and also owned and operated several restaurants throughout the Southwest.

Family members said she was a loving woman who enjoyed tending to her yard, feeding birds and crocheting.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Lawrence B. Miller; and by a son, Leonard Westerman.

Survivors include Dan Price of Portales; son, Bill Westerman (Lynn) of Wingate, Texas; daughter, Louise McGee of Portales; five grandchildren, Cindy Wallace, Mary Jarad, Sonja Faye Murphy, Lorrie Westerman and Leonard Hobbs; several great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Billie Howard of Hamilton, Ohio, and Winnie Williams of Layton, Utah.

James Terry will officiate.

Burial will take place at Texico Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Boyd Sides, Winkie Hodges, Harold Willis, Willie Beggs, Levi Beggs and Bill Welch.

Honorary pallbearers are Jackie Grimes, Hector “Fly” Ortega and Malcolm Grubbs.

Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.
