Gertrude H. VerDow, 83, music lover, of Minoa, died Wednesday at Francis House.
She was born in Fayetteville, the daughter of the late Hubert and Nellie Hale and graduated from Minoa High School in 1939.
She retired from Agway in 1987 and also was a former employee of the Syracuse newspapers.
Gert was well-known locally for entertaining with her singing, yodeling, and playing her Dobro. She was a former square dance caller and currently a line-dance instructor. She was a member of the Minoa United Methodist Church Choir, the Eastwood Seniors, and the Senior Theatre Troupe. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert Krusse in 1944, her second husband, Edwin VerDow in 1949; two sisters, Gladys Wilcox and Elcena Barnes; and a brother, Duard Hale.
Gert is survived by her son, James A. (Mary) Krusse; two grandchildren, James Robert (Sheila) Krusse and Christine (Robert) Maroney; five great- grandchildren and several nieces.
Funeral Services: 10 a.m. Friday at Eaton-Tubbs-Schepp Funeral Home. Burial, White Chapel Memory Gardens. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville.
