Maria Abbot, 90, of 810 E. Hickory St., died at 2:20 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Hospital where she was a patient one month.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Solon Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday with a Mass of Christian Burial at the Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
She was born February 28, 1893 in Italy, a daughter of John and Rose Luise. She married Joseph Abbot on April 27, 1921 at the Immaculate Conception Church. He survives.
Also surviving are five sons: Michael Simanello and John Simanello, both of Streator; James Simanello of LaMesa, California; Jerry Abbot of Tustin, California; and Angelo Abbot of Gainesville, Florida; three daughters: Sarah Mars and Millie (Eddie) Armstrong, both of Streator and Josephine (Earl) Lieske of Ottawa; 26 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Erminea and Almerinda, both of Argentina.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband: James Simanello; one daughter: Rose; one great-granddaughter; one brother; and two sisters.
She resided in Streator since 1915, moving from Italy. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception church and its Altar and Rosary Society.
