No Dates on stone, or not recorded. Ae 55 years. Veteran-Civil War, served Company K, 120th Regiment NYVI. Son of David Palen b.1810 and his wife Maria (Keator) Palen. Brothers and sisters include: Zachary Palen b.1832; Sarah C b.1834; Isaac b.1842; and Alfred b.1846. He also had half-brothers by his father David's second wife, Mrs Helen (Mitchell) Ousterhoudt, b.1816, the widow of Cornelius Bogart Osterhoudt. They are: Virgill b.1853; and Frank b.1857. It is not known if Jonathan ever married. He was still single working on Davids farm in 1870. "According to the Regimental History, on page 240, He is listed as being a Corporal of Co A, 120th NY Vol Inf."
