Robert C. "Grump" Miner, 69, of Route 20, Pompey, died Sunday at his home.
A native of Sackets Harbor, Mr. Miner also lived Manlius and Fayetteville and before moving to Pompey in 1956. He retired in 1975 as a truck driver with Texaco Oil Co. and previously owned a milk pickup route in the Jamesville and Pompey area. Mr. Miner also was the former owner of Cases Inn in Pompey.
Mr. Miner was a member of the Pompey Hills Fire Department and the Manlius Fire Department. He was a former fire commissioner for Pompey Hills and a former town of Pompey supervisor. An Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Miner was a member of Archie Van Patten Post 141, American Legion.
Surviving is his wife, the former Katharine Judge; two daughters, Linda Watson of Rockford, Ill., and Peggy Dumez of Pompey; two sons, Stanley of Bradenton, Fla., and William of Mesa, Ariz.; a sister, Marion McEnany of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a brother, Richard of Moyock, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Newell-Fay Funeral Home, Manlius. Burial is in White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, 403 Pleasant St.
