Leader of the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT). His tactics were loved by union members but hated by commuters, as he called frequent strikes. When other unions were losing members and salaries were stagnant or declining, Mr. Crow increased his union's membership from 59,000 to 78,000. Former mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, stated, "The only working-class people who still have well-paid jobs in London are his members." Mr. Crow quit the Communist Party because he said it was too moderate. Instead he called himself a Communist-Socialist, but eventually aligned himself with no party at all. He opposed both the European Union (EU) and the monarchy. His relationships with both the Tories and Labour was considered horrendous; he felt both parties took advantage of working people. He was known, however, to always keep his word when negotiating a bargain. Mr. Crow was considered the personification his union's motto of "Agitate, Educate, Organise", but also shared the unofficial slogan: "Nobody likes us, and we don't care".
