Mrs. J. W. McGlothlin died at her home in Lakenan, Tuesday morning, Sept. 17, 1907, at 7:30 o'clock, after an illness of over six months of cancer of the stomach.

Mary Mefford McGlothlin was born in Covington, Ky., on Aug. 30th, 1832, and was 75 years and 17 days old. She came to Missouri with her parents when a child and settled in Marion county.

She was united in marriage to John W. McGlothlin on February 1st 1857 and moved to Shelby county the same year.

To this union there were born three children, two of whom survive her.

Mrs. McGlothlin lived near this placed for many years and was well known to many of our readers. She was a devoted wife for over 50 years, a kind and loving mother and a true friend and neighbor, for many years she was a consistent member of the Methodist church.

She leaves an aged husband, one son, Will, of New Franklin and one daughter, Mrs. Wm. Burks, of Lakenan, two grand-children, and threee brothers and four sisters. They are: Harrison Mefford of Versailles, MO., Thomas of Prior Creek, I.T., James of Nevada, and Mrs. R. Martin, of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Lizzie Sullivan, of Montana, Mrs. Helen Sevier of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Maggie Warner of this city, besides many other relatives and friends
