William Mefford, and his wife Mary Stevens,
her maiden name, and was a preacher's daughter. They were raised and married in Owington, Kentucky
— came to Mo. long before Civil War, and settled Marion Co., Mo. Was a carpenter by trade but
lived on a farm after coming to Mo. Six children were born to them, 3 sons — 3 daughters. Harrison eldest
child, James and Tom. Harrison a big farmer of Shelby Co., Mo. Tom a butcher in DeWitt, Mo.,
James a butcher in Osceola, Mo., later ran a grocery in Nevada. The girls all married — their names were
Mary Susan Margot and Helen the youngest who married Milt _________ G. Mefford.
