Esther was the daughter of Nathaniel Batchelder and his first wife Deborah (nee Smith) Batchelder, daughter of John Smith of Martha's Vineyard
She married Deacon Samuel Shaw. Esther died in 1715 without children, and Samuel married Mary Tuck with whom he had three children.
