Stephen Batchelder did not die in Hampton in New England. In 1654 he sailed back to old England where he was cared for by relatives. He died near London and was buried “in the new churchyard” at All Hallows, Staining on October 31st 1656. 1s 6d was paid for the tolling of the bell in his memory
