Painter. He was born and died in Paris (France). He entered the Ecole National des Beaux-Arts in Paris at the age of 17. Son of Russian parents, who fled Moscu after the Revolution of 1905, he become member of Communist Party and Writers and Artists Revolutionaries Asociation in 1933. During Second World War, as a member of the Resistance, he was jailed by the Nazis, and later deported to Buchenwald. From this period, he painted more than 200 works reflecting the hard life in a concentration camp. In 1997, he was awarded the Légion d`Honneur. Among his works "La Pesée," "La Mort de Danielle Casanova," "Un Espagnol" and "La Cour."
