Son of Michael John and Mary "Delia" Bridget Barrett Fallon and husband of Brigid Byrnes and 2nd, Ann Nilas. He was the father of Mary Ellen (Sharp), Margaret Delia (Philby)(Larkin), Nora (Pearl)(Herman), Michael James, Martin and Bridget "Valentine".
His father came to this country before 1850 and worked the railroads in New York and surrounds where all his children were born. Matthews siblings were James Henry, Martin, Michael, Ellen (Coyne), Malachy, Mary, Patrick "P.L.", John B., Honora A. "Lenora" (Randall), and Margaret D. (Hennessey).
The entire family except the younger Michael, who remained in NY., moved to Cherry Valley, Ohio about 1872 when Bridget purchased land here. It was about this time that Matthew married Brigid Byrnes and where two daughters, Mary Ellen and Margaret Delia were both born -- Ashtabula, OH.
The entire family once more picked up and moved to Big Stone/Traverse County, Minnesota about 1881. It's possible the offer of land by the Catholic Church to Connmerra Irish may have been the reason for the move.
