PARKER CITY - Leon "Buddy" Oxley,68, passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 1, 2011 at IU Health Ball MemorialHospital surrounded by his loving family after a three and one half year battlewith Leukemia.
He was born on June 30, 1942 in Muncie theson Leon and Ruby (Daffron) Oxley, Sr. and graduated from Muncie Central HighSchool in 1960.
Mr. Oxley was employed at Colonial Bakeryfor thirty-two years until its closing in 1995. He also was employed at StatePlating, Elwood, Westminster Village, and Bill Gaddis Chrysler dealership inthe body shop until his retirement in 2010.
He was affiliated with the Eagles Lodge#231 F.O.E. and the Bakery Confectionary Union #372B, Indianapolis.
Buddy enjoyed spending time with his familyand grandchildren, especially attending school functions and sports activitieswhenever he could, Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, NASCAR, Prairie CreekReservoir, and listening to the blues at the Key Palace, Redkey. He also lovedall kinds of music.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife,Carolyn (Morris) Oxley; beloved son, Shane Oxley (wife, Nicole), Tipton; twograndchildren, Mikayla and Brian Oxley, Tipton; his mother and step-father,Ruby and Joe Devers, Muncie; three aunts, Bessie Forsythe (mom 2), Rosemead,CA, Chuck and Nancy Edwards, New Castle and Florida, and Lynn Jones, Nevada;numerous cousins; and his best canine friend and companion, Shadow.
Leon was preceded in death by hisbiological father; his half-sister, Lou Ann Cox; his half-brother, Ronald LeeOxley; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. onMonday, June 6, 2011 in The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington StreetChapel with Pastor Bob Smith officiating. Cremation will follow.
Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory,Washington Street Chapel from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday or one hour priorto services on Monday.
