This bio is a work in progress. I believe at this time that Callie's mom is Mary Avery and that Mary was first married to a Kennedy. There is a marriage record for Thomas G. Avery and Mary A. Kennedy. The marriage took place on December 8, 1877 in Washington, Mississippi. If this is so, then Thomas Avery would be Callie's step-father. There is a census record for 1880 Beat 1, Washington, Mississippi that lists Colly Kennedy as a step-daughter to F.J. Avery (these initials could be wrong) and her mother was M.A. Avery and another step-daughter as Ludy Avery. There is also a marriage record for James Duncan and Collie Kennedy. The marriage took place in Washington, Mississippi on Oct. 26, 1884. I have the SS-5 record for Callie's daughter Ethyl and it says that Ethyl's mother is Carlena Kennedy and her father is James Harrison Duncan. Callie's son-in-law was the informant on Callie's death certificate. He said that Callie's mother was Mary. I believe her last name was spelled wrong as Avia, but it was probably her last name not her maiden name. Ton Avery (maybe Tom) is the name given on the Alto, Texas funeral home records for T.D. Russell(Callie's son). Although Callie and her son Thompson were buried in Alto, Cherokee County, Texas, they might not be in this cemetery. They haven't been located yet. I will continue researching for information on Callie.
