Parents: Ebenezer Barr, Mahitable Palmer Barr (Note: their name spellings are found with some variations in sources, so family researchers should be aware of that when researching).

The following is a listing of known children of John Cook Barr and Anna Eliza Markham Barr. Because some children may have died very young and their deaths not recorded (Iowa did not have death records until mid-1880), this list may or may not be "complete":

> Emily "Emma" Barr Gilmer (Mrs. Charles A. Gilmer)

> Alonzo Barr

> John Alonzo Barr (See: John A Barr; wife was Adda Frances Smith Barr (See: Adda F Barr (Note: SAC edits sent so full names may be on their memorials)

> Caroline "Carrie" Barr Boyd (Mrs. John H. Boyd)

> Anna "Annie" Barr Randall (Mrs. Albert Allen Randall)

> Mahetable (a/k/a Mahitable) "Hettie" Barr Junkin (Mrs. Thomas Moorman Junkin; they were later divorced but are buried together)

> Mary "Mollie" Barr Howe (Mrs. John C. Howe)

> Kate Barr Howe (Mrs. George W. Howe; her Fairfield Ledger obituary was published on July 12, 1928, so her death was likely in July, 1928. At least one Barr family tree on Ancestry inadvertently listed the death year as 1918)
